Celebration of Christmas in Yamacraw Shines Bright with Tradition and Joy
SAVANNAH, GA – The Historic First Bryan Baptist Church and the newly renamed Yamacraw Square will come alive with festive spirit as the Yamacraw Jazz Ensemble joins the First Bryan church choir for the annual Christmas in Yamacraw celebration. This year marks a significant milestone as the choir celebrates its 236th year of dedicated service to the community.
Scheduled for November 26 at 6 p.m., the event, organized by the Yamacraw Restoration Project and the Andrew Bryan Community Development Corp., promises a vibrant display of over 1,000 holiday lights, a Christmas tree forest, and thousands of yards of ribbons, creating an enchanting atmosphere for all attendees. As part of the festivities, a Black Nativity scene will capture the essence of the season, drawing connections to the rich cultural heritage of the community.
Additionally, city leaders will unveil a sign marking the newly renamed Yamacraw Square, formerly known as Yamacraw Art Park, a change sanctioned by the city council in March, making it Savannah’s 23rd square.
Residents and visitors are invited to join in the joyous celebration of Christmas in Yamacraw, where music, lights, and community spirit will come together to herald the season of giving. For more information, attendees can visit the First Bryan Baptist Church’s website at fbbcsav.org.
As the holiday season approaches, there are plenty of opportunities to get inspired, whether through Thanksgiving meal ideas or discovering the best spots to see Christmas lights around town.
