Two Georgia men indicted in $123M scandal involving contract in Tennessee

Two Georgia men, Wesley Olan Landers and Jeffrey Scott Wells, are facing conspiracy and perjury charges in connection to a $123 million Tennessee state contract for behavioral health services for inmates. Landers, a former deputy commissioner and CFO for the Tennessee Department of Corrections, is accused of sharing confidential information with Wells, who was a vice president of the company awarded the contract. Landers was then hired by the company with no interview process. Company B eventually fired both men after realizing the breach. Both men are also accused of trying to cover up the incident and committing perjury in a civil lawsuit. If convicted, they could face up to five years in federal prison. The case highlights the alleged corruption and unethical practices in the bidding process for state contracts. The investigation and charges serve as a warning to those involved in similar schemes.
