Georgia Tech football cancels upcoming games against Georgia State

In a recent turn of events, the Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets have cancelled their home-and-home agreement with the Georgia State Panthers for the 2024 and 2026 football seasons. The Panthers traveled to Bobby Dodd Stadium last season as part of the agreement, but the Yellow Jackets will not be visiting Center Parc Stadium next fall.

The cancellation comes as the Yellow Jackets announced a new home-and-home series with the Tennessee Volunteers for the 2026 and 2027 seasons. This move is seen as an effort by the Yellow Jackets to schedule more formidable opponents for their out-of-conference games.

The buyout of the contract for the Yellow Jackets amounts to $1,000,000, but many fans believe it will be worth it for the opportunity to play against a prestigious opponent like the Volunteers.

In response to the cancellation, the Panthers have scheduled a game against the North Carolina A&T Aggies to fill the gap in their schedule.

The Yellow Jackets will now face at least two SEC teams in the 2026 and 2027 seasons, as the Volunteers join their annual rivalry game against the Georgia Bulldogs. This new scheduling decision is sure to bring excitement and anticipation to Yellow Jackets fans looking forward to challenging matchups ahead.
