Tybee Island Celebrates the Holiday Season with Festive Events and Free Parking
TYBEE ISLAND, Ga. – The City of Tybee Island is embracing the holiday spirit, inviting locals and visitors to partake in a series of festive events, all while enjoying the perk of free parking from Thanksgiving through New Year’s Day.
The holiday festivities commenced on November 30 with the 3rd Annual Main Street Tybee Holiday Market and Christmas Tree Lighting, held at the Tybrisa Street Roundabout. From noon until 8 p.m., attendees shopped local vendors, enjoyed a variety of family-friendly activities, and soaked in live entertainment, all emceed by WJCL 22 News’ Lydia Blackstone. The event also featured the Robert Ridge Memorial Corn Hole Tournament, adding to the day’s excitement.
On December 6, the island will shine brightly during the Annual Christmas Parade of Lights, starting at 6:30 p.m. This vibrant procession will stretch from 6th Street to Strand Avenue, and attendees are encouraged to bring canned goods to support the Rising Tyde Food Pantry.
The New Year’s Eve celebration promises an exhilarating dance party at the Tybee Pier, culminating in a stunning fireworks display at midnight to welcome the new year. Following the festivities, the 25th Annual Tybee Island Polar Plunge awaits on January 1 at noon, inviting brave participants to dive into the chilly Atlantic Ocean to kick off 2024 in style.
In the spirit of the season, the City of Tybee Island is offering free parking in legal, designated spaces throughout the island until New Year’s Day, while ensuring that fire lanes and no-parking zones remain enforced.
