Michigan State Welcomes Transfer Rush End Cam Williams
East Lansing, MI – Michigan State University received a boost to its football roster with the commitment of transfer portal rush end Cam Williams from Georgia State on April 18, following an official visit to the campus.
Standing at 6-5 and weighing 245 pounds, Williams is no stranger to the transfer portal. He previously transferred from Jacksonville State to Georgia State after spending two seasons with the Gamecocks. In the 2022 season with Georgia State, he made a notable impact, recording 19 tackles—four for a loss—along with one sack and one forced fumble across 10 games.
Williams began his college career at Troy University before moving to Jacksonville State, where he accumulated 26 tackles, 1.5 tackles for loss, one sack, and one forced fumble over two years. A three-star recruit from Logan, Georgia, he ranked as the 1735th recruit in the 2020 class according to On3 Industry Rankings, as well as the 158th edge rusher nationally and 170th player from Georgia.
This acquisition comes at a crucial time, as Michigan State seeks to solidify its rush end position, particularly following the departure of Anthony Jones, who entered the transfer portal on April 16. Jones had contributed significantly, with 25 tackles, 3.5 tackles for loss, and two sacks in the previous season.
Williams will join a revamped rush end lineup that also includes Isaac Smith, another recent transfer from Texas Tech, and Wisconsin transfer Anelu Lafaele, alongside redshirt junior Tyler Gillison and walk-ons Stone Chaney and Jack Lamancusa. With these additions, Michigan State aims to enhance its defensive capabilities as it gears up for the upcoming season.
