Georgia State Panthers Secure 6-2 Victory Over Troy Trojans
ATLANTA – The Georgia State Panthers clinched a decisive 6-2 victory against the Troy Trojans on Saturday, showcasing a strong performance that saw them take an early lead and maintain control throughout the game.
Starting pitcher Emily Hodnett delivered a solid outing for the Panthers (12-37), earning her third win of the season. The senior right-hander threw seven innings, allowing two earned runs on four hits, with three strikeouts and one walk.
The Panthers got off to a fast start, scoring four runs in the first inning, highlighted by a two-run single from sophomore Payton O’Connor and another from freshman Ryleigh Garrett, who contributed two RBIs in the game. Senior Chloe Middlebrooks led the offensive charge with an impressive 3-for-4 performance, including a double, while Kiki Edwards added two hits and an RBI.
Following Georgia State’s early surge, the Trojans managed to narrow the gap to 4-2. However, a two-run sixth inning solidified the Panthers’ lead, capped by a run-scoring single from Edwards.
