The Georgia State women’s track & field team concluded their season with an impressive showing at the Sun Belt Indoor Championship in Birmingham, AL. Led by senior Valissa Brown, who finished second in the long jump with a personal best jump of 6.00 meters, the Panthers had seven top ten finishes. Jasmyn Heard also had a strong performance, placing third in the 200-meter and fourth in the 60-meter final with a program record-breaking time. Other notable finishes included Kayli Williams taking third in the 60-meter hurdles, Brianna Mponzi finishing sixth in the 60-meter with a personal best time, and the 4×400 relay team placing fifth. Several athletes achieved personal bests, showcasing the team’s dedication and hard work throughout the season.
In addition to the top finishes, several Panthers set personal bests in their events, such as Ronasche Fluker in the triple jump, Kennedy Jacquet in the triple jump, and Gabriele Key in the long jump. Marie Tchocksi achieved a season best in the long jump, Mencia Maruri set a personal best in the 3000 meters, and the GSU Women distance medley relay team finished strong.
