Man arrested after 4 injured in Texas school shooting

Four students were injured, three with gunshot wounds, after a shooting at Wilmer-Hutchins High School in Dallas. The students were between the ages of 15 to 18 and had injuries ranging from serious to non-life-threatening. The shooting occurred around 1 p.m., leading to an evacuation of the main school building. The gunman was identified, arrested, and placed in the Dallas County Jail.

This incident is not the first at Wilmer-Hutchins High School, as a student was injured in a shooting in a classroom the previous year. Dallas ISD Superintendent Stephanie Elizalde expressed concern and frustration over the recurring violence in a brief news conference following the shooting.

School district officials stated that the gun did not enter the building during the initial intake period when students pass through metal detectors. They did not provide details on how the gun made its way into the building or what led up to the shooting.

Classes at the school were canceled for the rest of the week, and counselors were made available to support students and staff. The investigation into the shooting is ongoing, with district police working to gather more information.
