The Federal Aviation Administration has grounded New York Helicopter Charter, the company responsible for the sightseeing tour that crashed into the Hudson River last week, resulting in the deaths of all six people on board. The FAA issued an emergency order to ground the company, citing the firing of its director of operations as one reason for the action. The Bell 206 helicopter crashed into the Hudson River at 3:17 p.m. on Thursday, killing Siemens executive Agustín Escobar, his wife, their three children, and pilot Sean Johnson. New York Helicopter Charter had voluntarily ceased flights after the crash. The FAA is conducting an investigation into the crash and is also reviewing the company’s operations through the Certificate Holder Evaluation Program.
