60 years after her death, previously unreleased recordings by Patsy Cline are now available

Iconic country music legend Patsy Cline continues to share her talent with the world over 60 years after her tragic death. Recently discovered never-before-released recordings of the singer have been compiled into a limited-edition two-LP set titled “Imagine That: The Lost Recordings (1954-1963),” released for Record Store Day by Elemental Music/Deep Digs. The collection includes 48 live concert, radio, and TV appearances, with some of the oldest recordings found on original acetate discs in a basement where they had been stored for 30 years.

Cline’s daughter, Julie Fudge, expressed her excitement over the personal and intimate feel of these recordings, which capture Cline’s performances in front of live audiences. The compilation spans Cline’s career from her early 20s to the peak of her popularity before her untimely death in 1963. The discovery of these recordings came as a surprise to Marc Zitelman, who found the relic WARL disc in a box of records in his basement. The recordings, believed to have been stored since 1954, include timeless hits like “Walkin’ After Midnight,” “Crazy,” “I Fall to Pieces,” and a significant rendition of the gospel song “Just a Closer Walk With Thee,” which was one of Cline’s last known recordings before her passing.

The release of these lost recordings offers fans a new perspective on Cline’s music and legacy, providing a deeper connection to the legendary singer. The collection not only showcases Cline’s talent but also preserves a piece of music history for generations to come.
