JMU’s Last Homestand Kicks Off Against Georgia State on Thursday

James Madison University’s men’s basketball team is gearing up for a showdown against Georgia State University on Thursday night at the Atlantic Union Bank Center. The Dukes are riding a seven-game winning streak in the Sun Belt Conference and recently overcame a 10-point deficit to secure a narrow victory over Coastal Carolina.

With a record of 17-10, the Dukes are currently tied for first place in the conference standings with Arkansas State, Troy, and South Alabama. Georgia State, on the other hand, has won four consecutive games and boasts a 12-15 overall record.

In their last matchup on Jan. 25, James Madison defeated Georgia State 86-79. The Dukes have historically had the upper hand in this series, holding a 10-9 advantage over the Panthers.

James Madison’s recent success can be attributed to standout performances from players like Mark Freeman, who has scored 20 or more points in three consecutive games. If the Dukes secure a win against Georgia State, it will mark the first time since 1991-94 that they have won 10 or more conference games in three consecutive seasons.

The game will be available for streaming on ESPN+ and WSVA 92.1 FM | 550 AM. Both teams will be looking to solidify their positions in the Sun Belt Conference standings as the regular season winds down.
