The Georgia State University beach volleyball team has been voted as the preseason favorite to win the Sun Belt Conference according to a recent poll released by the conference. The team, currently ranked No. 13 in the nation, received six of the eight first-place votes from the conference’s coaches.
Head coach Beth Van Fleet expressed her excitement and gratitude for the recognition, stating that the team has been working hard in preparation for the upcoming season. The Panthers are coming off a successful 2020 season where they finished with a 23-7 record and advanced to the NCAA Tournament for the second consecutive year.
The team returns several key players, including senior Olivia Stasevich and junior Claire Lewis, who were both named to the All-Sun Belt Preseason Team. Stasevich was also recognized as the Preseason Co-Player of the Year in the conference.
