Young’s Overtime 3-Pointer Secures Hawks’ Sixth Consecutive Win, 134-132 Against Lakers

Hawks Secure Overtime Victory Against Lakers, Extend Winning Streak to Six

ATLANTA (AP) — Trae Young propelled the Atlanta Hawks to a dramatic 134-132 overtime victory over the Los Angeles Lakers on Friday night, marking Atlanta’s sixth consecutive win. Young, who scored 31 points, delivered a clutch 3-pointer with just 7.4 seconds remaining in overtime, sealing the game.

Despite dominating performances by the Lakers’ stars, LeBron James and Anthony Davis, who recorded 39 and 38 points respectively, the team suffered its third consecutive loss and its seventh in the last nine games. James had a chance to win it for the Lakers but his long-range attempt fell short, hitting the rim as time expired.

The game was tightly contested, heading into regulation’s final moments with a tie score of 119. Atlanta attempted to secure the win but Young’s shot was blocked by Max Christie. A collision between James and Davis left James hobbling to the sideline, though he returned to play in overtime.

Key moments in the final stages included crucial defensive plays by Dyson Daniels for the Hawks. His efforts led to a jump ball against Davis, who eventually won the tip but lost control as James and De’Andre Hunter battled for possession, allowing Young to execute his game-winning shot.

Atlanta’s bench outperformed the Lakers’ significantly, contributing 65 points compared to the Lakers’ 17 from their reserves, with De’Andre Hunter leading the way for the Hawks with 26 points.

Looking ahead, the Lakers will return home to face the Portland Trail Blazers on Sunday, while the Hawks are set to host the Denver Nuggets the same evening.
