Panthers Welcome Another Power 5 Opponent to Their Home Arena

Georgia State’s football team, led by head coach Dell McGee, is gearing up to face off against Power 5 competitor Vanderbilt on September 14 at Center Parc Credit Union Stadium. McGee, who recently celebrated his first career win as a Panther in the home opener against Chattanooga, is eager to continue the team’s success.

This matchup marks the first meeting between Georgia State and Vanderbilt, kicking off a home-and-home series between the two teams. The Panthers have a history of facing Power 5 opponents, with their most notable victory coming against Tennessee in 2019.

Despite a large influx of newcomers to the roster, key returners like Tailique Williams, Freddie Brock, and Justin Abraham are leading the team to success. The Panthers also saw significant contributions from transfers like Ted Hurst, Jordan Ford, and Sy’veon Wilkerson.

Under the leadership of Dell McGee, who took over as head coach in 2024, the Panthers have high hopes for the season. McGee, along with an entirely new coaching staff, is looking to build on the team’s success in recent years, which includes multiple bowl game victories.

With a new starting quarterback, Christian Veilleux, at the helm, Georgia State is ready to take on Vanderbilt and continue their four-game homestand. After facing off against Georgia Southern on September 28, the Panthers will have a bye week before their next matchup.
