The Division of Engineering Technology at Oklahoma State University recently held a ribbon-cutting ceremony for the opening of a new student lounge on the fifth floor of Engineering North. The lounge was made possible through a generous donation from Human Mode, a robotics company based in Oklahoma City.
The event was attended by Associate Dean John Veenstra, DET faculty, staff, and students, as well as Human Mode CEO William Kerber and his wife, Chi Kerber. The space, which will be a place for students to relax, study, and collaborate, has been named after the company.
Dr. Chulho Yang, interim head of DET, expressed excitement about the new lounge, stating that it will be a hub for innovation and community. William Kerber echoed this sentiment, emphasizing the importance of collaboration in success and expressing enthusiasm for supporting OSU’s engineering and technology programs.
Kaid Kinzie from the OSU Foundation highlighted the impact of Human Mode’s gift, stating that it will benefit generations of students and enhance the student experience. The lounge features comfortable seating, study areas, high-speed Wi-Fi, charging stations, and collaborative workspaces for group projects.
Located in room 503, the student lounge is open during the day and accessible using student ID cards. The space is intended to provide students with a welcoming environment to connect with their peers and foster creativity and innovation.
