Georgia State Women’s Basketball Team Prepares for Home Game Against Sewanee

Georgia State Women’s Basketball team will be returning home to host Sewanee on Dec. 8 at 2:00 p.m. in the Convocation Center after facing their third Power 5 competitor at Alabama. This will mark the first meeting between the two programs.

The Panthers have shown impressive stats in the Sun Belt conference, with Mikyla Tolivert leading in free throw percentage and Mya Williams ranking fifth in three-pointers per game. Defensively, the team ranks third in the conference in blocks and seventh in turnovers forced per game.

Sophomore Crystal Henderson, named to the 2024 preseason All-Sun Belt First Team, has been a key player for the Panthers, leading the team in assists, steals, and three-point percentage. Henderson’s strong performance has contributed to the team’s success, including a standout game against Georgia where she earned Sun Belt Player of the Week honors.

Preseason All-Sun Belt First Team guard Mikyla Tolivert is also a standout player, leading the team in scoring and free-throw percentage, and recently joining the Panthers’ thousand-point club.

The team roster includes promising forwards such as graduate transfers Eden Johnson and Mahogany Matthews, who have shown strong performances in blocks and rebounds.

The Panthers will face Kennesaw State for the I-75 Challenge before opening conference play against Southern Miss, showcasing their potential for a successful season ahead.
