Kennesaw State Men’s Basketball Faces Off Against Georgia State in Atlanta
Kennesaw, Ga. – Kennesaw State University’s men’s basketball team (6-3) is set to face off against rival Georgia State University (4-4) on Friday, December 6, at 7 p.m. ET in the GSU Convocation Center in Atlanta. The game will be streamed live on ESPN+, with commentators Dave Cohen and Lamont McIntosh providing coverage.
This matchup marks the first return game for the Owls after participating in a prestigious mid-major tournament in Canada over the Thanksgiving week, where they competed against three top teams from the CollegeInsider Mid-Major Poll, resulting in a 1-2 record. Their highlights included a narrow 67-63 overtime victory against the CAA preseason favorite, Towson.
The rivalry heats up again, as this contest is a rematch of last year’s face-off, where Kennesaw State secured an 88-77 victory on December 2, their first meeting since 1989. They’ll be aiming for their first win on Georgia State’s home turf, having lost their previous three encounters while KSU was still an NAIA program.
Last year’s encounter saw a pivotal moment when the Owls launched a decisive 17-0 scoring run in the first half, with standout Simeon Cottle scoring a career-high 27 points.
This season, Kennesaw State has significantly bolstered its defense, ranking 32nd nationally in field goal percentage defense at 38.1%, a drastic improvement from their 186th ranking last season. Additionally, they now sit fifth in the NCAA for three-point defense, allowing opponents to convert only 24.9% of their attempts.
As the Owls prepare for this standout matchup, fans look forward to an exciting display of regional rivalry and athletic prowess.
