Eagles Secure First Georgia Grown Bowl Victory with Dominant Performance Against Georgia State


Georgia Southern football dominated their in-state rival Georgia State in a 38-21 victory at Center Parc Stadium. The Eagles offense recorded 261 rushing yards and four touchdowns on the ground, totaling 498 yards of offense. The defense contributed three interceptions to secure the win, marking their second consecutive victory over the Panthers.

The game started with both teams trading punts, but the Eagles quickly took the lead with a 1-yard touchdown pass from JC French to Josh Dallas. Georgia State responded with a 76-yard touchdown pass to tie the game, but OJ Arnold’s 32-yard rushing touchdown put Georgia Southern back in the lead. Gavin Stewart’s career-long 53-yard field goal extended the lead to 17-7.

French led the Eagles on a 98-yard touchdown drive, the longest in the FBS era for Southern, with Arnold scoring from 1-yard out to make it 24-7. The Panthers scored two quick touchdowns in the third quarter to cut the lead to three points, but the Eagles responded with another touchdown to regain a ten-point lead.

Jalen White rushed for 114 yards and two touchdowns, while Arnold added a career-high 110 yards and two scores. Dallas had a career-high nine receptions for 89 yards and a touchdown, with French passing for 237 yards and a touchdown. The defense was led by Marques Watson-Trent with eight tackles and 2.0 tackles for loss.

Georgia Southern will face Marshall at home on October 12th, aiming to continue their winning streak. This victory marked an impressive offensive performance for the Eagles, showcasing their strength on both sides of the ball.
