Elba High School Stars Sign with College Football Programs
In a momentous occasion for Elba High School, seniors Alvin Henderson and Cayden Adkins have signed college football scholarships, solidifying their legacies on the field. Henderson, Alabama’s all-time leading rusher and holder of more than a dozen AHSAA state records, will join Auburn University in the Southeastern Conference. Adkins, a versatile athlete known for his prowess as a linebacker and offensive player, has committed to Georgia State University in the Sun Belt Conference.
At a signing ceremony held at the Elba High School Media Center, both athletes expressed gratitude for the opportunity to advance their football careers. Henderson reflected on his recruiting journey, noting that after receiving offers from over 75 colleges, he chose Auburn due to the team’s family atmosphere and coaching staff led by head coach Hugh Freeze. He aims to contribute to the team’s turnaround following four consecutive losing seasons.
Adkins, equally excited about his future, praised Georgia State’s coaching staff for their consistent support throughout his high school career. Known for his aggressive defensive play, Adkins tallied outstanding statistics, including 392 total tackles, along with an impressive offensive record of 1,388 rushing yards.
Elba head coach Marc Sieving emphasized the character of both players, stating, “The main thing that I want people to know is who they are as people.” Both athletes have demonstrated exceptional work ethics and leadership qualities, which have impressed their coaches and teammates.
As they prepare for their next steps, Henderson and Adkins embody the dedication and talent that have made them stars at Elba High, setting the stage for promising futures in college football.
