An 8-year-old boy tragically died after a statue fell on him outside the Arizona Biltmore hotel in Phoenix, according to the Phoenix Police Department. The boy was struck in the head by the statue and hospitalized for five days before passing away. Investigators are still looking into why the statue fell apart and how the boy was hit by it, but they have ruled out foul play. The Biltmore hotel, designed by Frank Lloyd Wright, is located on a 39-acre resort with views of palm trees and mountain ranges. The statue that collapsed was one of 19 “solemn sprites” sculptures on the resort grounds, depicting mythological figures representing the natural world. The hotel expressed their deep sadness over the family’s loss and stated they were cooperating with investigators. They also wished the family peace and respect for their privacy during this difficult time.
