Kennesaw State University Appoints Jerry Mack as New Head Football Coach
Kennesaw, GA – Kennesaw State University has announced the appointment of Jerry Mack as the head coach of the Owls football program, marking a new chapter for the team. Athletic Director Milton Overton introduced Mack during a press conference on Sunday, expressing enthusiasm for the decision after a comprehensive national search.
Mack brings 20 years of coaching experience to KSU, highlighted by five conference championships and a reputation for fostering strong player relationships and effective recruiting strategies. Most recently, he served as the running backs coach for the Jacksonville Jaguars and previously held the same position at the University of Tennessee.
"Coach Mack’s values and professional credentials align perfectly with the strategic direction of our football program," Overton stated. "His expertise in developing high-octane offensive schemes will be invaluable as we look to elevate our team’s performance."
Mack succeeds Brian Bohannon, who departed after a decade with the Owls, with his final day being November 10. Reflecting on his new role, Mack expressed enthusiasm for joining the KSU community, stating, "I want to thank Director Overton and President Kathy Schwaig for this phenomenal opportunity. KSU is one of the fastest-growing institutions in the country, offering limitless potential for our student-athletes."
He added, "I am honored to lead this program and eager to help our players succeed academically and athletically, while developing into outstanding citizens."
Mack, along with his wife Starlett and their three children—sons Jaden and Jaxon, and daughter Skyler—are set to embrace their new journey with the Owls. An introductory event for Mack will occur on Tuesday at 11 a.m., which will be streamed live at KSUOwls.com.
