However, Senator Chris Murphy criticized Trump’s use of tariffs, calling them a distraction and questioning their effectiveness in creating American jobs. Hagerty also gave his support to Trump’s controversial Cabinet picks, such as Kash Patel for the FBI and Tulsi Gabbard for director of national intelligence, despite concerns from other senators.
Regarding Gabbard’s alleged ties to Assad and Russian propaganda, Hagerty said he plans to vote for her nomination, expressing his loyalty to Trump’s nominees even if he does not agree with all of their actions. Overall, Hagerty stood behind Trump’s aggressive trade policies and defended his administration’s choices for key positions in the government.
