Kennesaw State University Announces New Head Football Coach Jerry Mack
KENNESAW, Ga. — Kennesaw State University (KSU) has appointed Jerry Mack as the new head football coach for the Owls, marking a significant shift in the program’s leadership. The announcement was made by Director of Athletics Milton Overton on Sunday.
Mack, a highly experienced collegiate coach with 20 years in the field, has an impressive track record that includes five conference championships. Before joining KSU, he spent the previous season with the Jacksonville Jaguars as a running backs coach and held a similar position at the University of Tennessee for three years.
"After an extensive national search, I am thrilled to welcome Coach Jerry Mack, along with his wife Starlett and their family, to Owl Nation," Overton expressed. He highlighted Mack’s alignment with the university’s strategic goals, emphasizing his success in connecting with players and his formidable recruiting abilities. Mack is known for implementing dynamic and effective offensive strategies.
Mack takes over the role from Brian Bohannon, who served as head coach for the past decade and stepped down on November 10. Eager to commence this new chapter, Mack stated, “My family and I are extremely excited to join the Owl family! I want to thank Director of Athletics Milton Overton and President Kathy Schwaig for this phenomenal opportunity.” He expressed a commitment to fostering player development both on and off the field, appreciating KSU’s growth and opportunities for student-athletes.
The Mack family includes two sons, Jaden and Jaxon, and a daughter, Skyler. An introductory event for Mack will take place on Tuesday at 11 a.m. and will be streamed live on KSUOwls.com, allowing fans to engage with their new head coach.
