Atlanta Falcons Launch Fellowship Program for HBCU Students
ATLANTA — As graduation approaches, many college students grapple with the challenge of securing employment. To bridge this gap, the Atlanta Falcons have introduced a fellowship program specifically aimed at students from historically Black colleges and universities (HBCUs), including Spelman College, Morehouse College, and Clark Atlanta University (CAU).
This initiative, named the AMB Sports and Entertainment (AMBSE) fellowship, aims to create a job pipeline by offering valuable hands-on experience and networking opportunities within the sports and entertainment sectors. In its second consecutive year, the program has attracted over 400 applicants, doubling its participation and exploring numerous departments, from finance to marketing. Fifteen selected fellows will benefit from an 8-week paid program, gaining insight into the inner workings of the industry.
Clark Atlanta University student Amari Currie expressed his excitement about the fellowship, highlighting the wealth of talent present among his peers. "Atlanta is a city full of bright and beautiful students," Currie noted, urging for greater recognition of HBCU talent in the industry.
Latonda Henderson, AMBSE’s Chief DEI Officer and a proud HBCU alum, emphasized the program’s importance in fostering diversity, equity, and inclusion within the workplace. "All we need is an opportunity," she stated, reflecting on the abundant passion and talent on HBCU campuses.
Wells Fargo has partnered with the Falcons in this initiative, reinforcing their commitment to leveling the playing field for HBCU students through mentorship and career growth.
"We are incredibly proud of the students and alumni involved," said Tai Roberson, Senior Vice President at Wells Fargo. The fellowship promises to enhance career prospects and showcase the exceptional abilities of HBCU students in the business realm.
