Leilani Simon was sentenced to life in prison with the possibility of parole for the murder of her 20-month-old son, Quinton Simon, whose remains were found in a landfill after she reported him missing in 2022. The judge noted the impact of Quinton’s life and death on the community. Simon was convicted of malice murder, two counts of felony murder, concealing the death of another, and other related charges. It was alleged that she caused Quinton’s death with an unknown object, likely an injury, and then disposed of his body in a trash bin near her home. Simon was arrested in November 2022, indicted the following month, and ultimately sentenced to life in prison with an additional 10 years. Throughout the sentencing, Simon remained silent and nodded in acknowledgment. The judge ended the hearing with a plea for peace in the aftermath of the tragedy.
