The Georgia State volleyball team secured a victory over the UL Monroe Warhawks in four sets (25-13, 17-25, 25-19, 25-19) at home in the GSU Sports Arena. With this win, the Panthers improved to a 15-12 overall record and a 6-9 record in Sun Belt play. Keionna MacKey led the offensive charge with 13 kills, while Myllena Torquetti and Alessia Cappai added 12 and 10 kills, respectively. Defensively, Kaleigh Fitzgerald contributed 15 digs to help secure the win.
In the first set, Georgia State dominated from the start, never trailing and finishing with a 25-13 win. However, they faced a setback in the second set, losing 25-17 to UL Monroe. The Panthers bounced back in the third set, winning 25-19, and ultimately closed out the match with a 25-19 victory in the fourth set. Patrycja Zielinska had a team-high three aces in the match, while the team’s attackers were supported by 20 assists from Zielinska.
Georgia State’s balanced offensive performance and solid defense were key factors in securing the win against UL Monroe. The Panthers are gearing up for their next match against ULM on November 15th at 6:00 p.m. at the GSU Sports Arena.
