Arkansas State football secures bowl eligibility with victory over Georgia State


The Arkansas State football team secured their second consecutive bowl eligibility with a 27-20 victory over Georgia State in Atlanta. The Red Wolves showcased a strong ground game, rushing for a total of 261 yards. Standout performances came from Jaylen Raynor with 114 rushing yards, Ja’Quez Cross with 76 yards and a touchdown, and Zak Wallace with 62 yards and two touchdowns.

Kicker Clune Van Andel made headlines by setting a new A-State record with his 16th consecutive made field goal, including a 52-yard kick in the fourth quarter. The team’s defense also played a crucial role in the win, forcing two turnovers with interceptions by Justin Parks and Trevian Thomas.

With this victory, Arkansas State now stands at 6-4 for the season, with a 4-2 record in Sun Belt play. The team will finish off their regular season with two home games, facing ULM on November 23rd and Old Dominion on November 30th.
