Marshall running back A.J. Turner’s impressive performance of 207 all-purpose yards and four touchdowns led the Thundering Herd to a 35-20 victory over Georgia State. Turner’s 88-yard touchdown run sealed the win, showcasing the running back’s skill and the teamwork of the offensive line. The win brought Marshall to a 4-3 overall record and 2-1 in the Sun Belt Conference.
Head coach Charles Huff praised the team’s response to adversity, highlighting their execution and character. The defense also played a crucial role in the victory, with key plays in the fourth quarter preventing Georgia State from tying the game.
Beyond Turner’s standout performance, quarterback Braylon Braxton contributed a touchdown pass before halftime, and kicker Rece Verhoff added two successful field goals to the scoreboard. Defensively, Mike Green and J.J. Roberts made significant contributions to the team’s success.
