Record Early Voting Turnout Ahead of Election Day in Georgia
ATLANTA, Ga. (WALB) – With just six days remaining until Election Day, Georgia is poised to witness a historic voter turnout. Recent reports indicate that over 500,000 individuals who abstained from voting in the last presidential election have already participated in early voting this year.
Secretary of State Brad Raffensperger announced record-breaking numbers, noting that as of the 16th day of early voting, Georgia has seen more than 3.1 million voters cast their ballots. This exceeds the previous high of 2.1 million during the same period in the 2020 presidential election and surpasses figures from 2018 and 2022, which logged 1.3 million and 1.7 million early voters, respectively.
Raffensperger expressed confidence in the preparations made for the upcoming election, stating, “I have no control over human behavior, but I will ensure that both parties are held accountable to the voters of Georgia.” He emphasized the efforts made since 2018 to enhance election infrastructure, increase early voting opportunities, and prioritize security and convenience for voters.
As excitement builds and turnout surges, Georgians are encouraged to check their voting locations for early or in-person voting options.
