Augusta University Men’s Basketball Faces Clemson in Exhibition Match

CLEMSON, S.C. – In a challenging first outing of the season, the Augusta University men’s basketball team faced a tough opponent, falling to Division I powerhouse Clemson 90-49 during an exhibition at Littlejohn Arena on Monday. The Jaguars started strong, briefly leading 10-9 five minutes into the game, and later tying the score at 12-12 with just over seven minutes remaining in the first half.

However, Clemson’s depth and experience quickly took over, as they outscored Augusta 33-11 during a dominant stretch before halftime. The Jaguars struggled with turnovers, many occurring during this crucial phase of the game. Augusta’s shooting woes continued, finishing the first half with just 37% from the field, compared to Clemson’s impressive 50%.

Demitri Gardner emerged as the standout performer for the Jaguars, scoring a team-high 22 points, while John St. Germain III contributed with 10 points. Evan Joyner added six points, with Maximillian Amadasun leading the team in rebounding with nine. Notably, Luis Norfon, returning from a lengthy absence of over 600 days, added five boards to the effort.

The second half mirrored the first as Clemson utilized its size to dominate the paint, outscoring Augusta 46-24 in that area. Despite the loss, the Jaguars showcased determination and resilience against a formidable opponent.

Augusta University will look to bounce back when they host Emory University this Saturday at 5 p.m. at Christenberry Fieldhouse. Fans are encouraged to stay connected with the Jaguars through their social media platforms and the official athletics website for the latest updates.
