The Wildwood Cemetery in Brockway, founded in 1866, will be hosting a historical walking tour on Saturday, Nov. 2, led by historian Rob Keith and cemetery supervisor Ron Feldman. This tour will showcase the final resting place of many notable families from the area, including the Brockways and the Moorheads.
The cemetery, now 158 years old, is in need of funds to cover various maintenance projects, including repairs to the chapel roof and new roads throughout the site. To raise funds, the Wildwood Cemetery Association is inviting the public to attend the walking tour and other future events. Donations made at the entrance will go towards supporting the upkeep of the cemetery.
Attendees can park for free in Feldman’s yard before entering the cemetery and enjoy a brown bag lunch at the chapel, which will include a hot dog, chips, water, and a candy bar, all available for a donation. The tour will run from 1-3 p.m. on Saturday, with a rain date scheduled for Sunday, Nov. 3 from 2-4 p.m.
This event offers a unique opportunity for community members to explore the history of the area and visit the graves of their ancestors, family, and friends. By participating in the walking tour and supporting the Wildwood Cemetery Association, attendees can help ensure the preservation of this historic site for years to come.
