The Georgia State volleyball team secured a conference win against Marshall with a four-set victory on the road at Cam Henderson Center in Huntington, WV. Led by Keionna MacKey’s double-double performance of 11 kills and 13 digs, the Panthers improved their record to 13-8 overall and 4-5 in Sun Belt play. Peyton Gash contributed with 12 kills, while Kaleigh Fitzgerald had 19 digs and Myllena Torquetti added five blocks.
In the first set, Georgia State claimed a 25-22 win, showcasing strong defensive performance. Despite losing the second set 25-12, the Panthers bounced back in the third set to take a 2-1 lead with a 25-22 victory. They sealed the match with a 25-21 win in the fourth set, maintaining momentum and capitalizing on Marshall’s attacking errors.
The team’s overall performance was bolstered by Patrycja Zielinska’s two aces and Shanelle Martinez’s 23 assists. Georgia State’s next match is scheduled against Marshall on October 26 at 2:00 p.m. The Panthers will look to build on their recent success and continue their winning streak in Sun Belt play. With strong offensive contributions and solid defense, Georgia State aims to secure another victory as they face Marshall for the second time in as many days.
