Lawsuit alleges former Disney employee manipulated menu system to incorrectly state certain foods were peanut-free

A former Disney employee named Michael Scheuer is being accused of hacking into the menu-creating software used by the company’s restaurants after being terminated from his job. He allegedly made changes to the menus, including falsely indicating that certain food items did not contain peanuts. Scheuer worked as a menu production manager at Walt Disney World and was responsible for creating and publishing menus for the company’s restaurants. After being fired for alleged misconduct in June, he continued to access the software and made changes to menu prices and added profanity. The lawsuit alleges that Scheuer also changed allergen information on menus, falsely indicating that certain items were safe for individuals with peanut allergies. Federal agents searched his home and seized personal computers, but Scheuer denied any wrongdoing and accused Disney of trying to frame him. His attorney stated that no one was injured or harmed as a result of the menu changes and that Scheuer has a disability that he believes played a role in his termination. Disney did not immediately respond to a request for comment on the situation.
