Warner Robins, GA – High school football standout Rasean Dinkins, currently committed to Georgia Tech, is drawing significant interest from the University of Georgia, which is eager to flip his pledge. At 5-foot-11 and weighing between 180-185 pounds, Dinkins may not fit the traditional mold of a safety for Georgia, but his exceptional ball skills and on-field performance have caught the Bulldogs’ attention.
Dinkins, who initially committed to Tech in June, expressed that his decision was a rushed one, stemming from his excitement during his first official visit. “I was kind of bamboozled,” he admitted. However, with just two home games left for Georgia, he is looking to visit Athens soon, discussing details with Georgia’s co-defensive coordinator, Travaris Robinson.
This season, Dinkins has made a remarkable impact, racking up impressive statistics: 41 tackles, two interceptions, two tackles for loss, four pass breakups, and notable contributions to the offense with 17 receptions for 389 yards and six touchdowns, alongside three rushing touchdowns. His versatility extends to special teams, where he has also returned two kickoffs and a punt for scores.
His coaches recognize Dinkins as a vital leader on the field. Defensive coordinator LaBrandon Hudson described him as “absolutely like an assistant coach,” highlighting his intelligence and deep understanding of the game. Dinkins has also caught the attention of Auburn and Mississippi State, but he acknowledges that Georgia is pursuing him most vigorously.
The Bulldogs extended an offer to Dinkins in September, which he called “a very big offer,” marking a pivotal moment in his recruitment and the anticipation surrounding his potential commitment. As the season progresses, all eyes will be on Dinkins and his decision-making in the coming months.
