Harris to Encourage Voters to Shift Focus from Trump Era in Tuesday Night Speech at Ellipse • Georgia Recorder

Vice President Harris to Make Final Pitch Ahead of Election

Washington, D.C. — As the presidential race heats up with just a week to go until the Nov. 5 election, Vice President Kamala Harris is set to deliver her “closing argument” on Tuesday night at the Ellipse, located just south of the White House. The speech aims to connect with undecided voters as Harris prepares to "turn the page" from former President Donald Trump, according to campaign Chair Jen O’Malley Dillon.

Polling suggests a tight race between Harris and Trump, with crucial swing states appearing especially competitive. The high-profile venue is not only symbolic; it contrasts sharply with Trump’s own history there, as he delivered remarks leading to the January 6 Capitol riot.

Harris’ speech will focus on addressing voter frustration and exhaustion stemming from Trump’s presidency, emphasizing her vision for new leadership aligned with the priorities of American families. Michael Tyler, communications director for Harris’ campaign, noted the importance of this opportunity to speak directly to those questioning their participation in the election, projecting a sense of hope and urgency.

The veep is expected to appeal particularly to middle-class Americans, highlighting their concerns and contrasting her vision with Trump’s self-centered narrative. Dillon emphasized the distinction between Harris’ commitment to the American people’s needs versus Trump’s perceived fixation on grievances.

As the campaign unfolds, the Trump campaign has faced backlash following comedian Tony Hinchcliffe’s controversial comments at a recent rally, which have sparked outrage, particularly within the Puerto Rican community. In response, the Harris campaign is ramping up outreach efforts, including a billboard campaign in Pennsylvania, underscoring Trump’s unpopularity in regions with significant Puerto Rican populations.

With both campaigns intensifying their efforts, the lead-up to Election Day promises to be critical for both candidates.
