Colin Farrell helped his friend Emma Fogarty, who lives with the rare skin condition epidermolysis bullosa (EB), complete the final 4 kilometers of the Dublin Marathon in her wheelchair. Fogarty, who turned 40, is the oldest surviving person with EB in Ireland and faces excruciating pain from blistering. Farrell ran the marathon to raise funds for the Irish charity DEBRA, which supports individuals with EB. They initially aimed to raise €400,000 but now hope to reach a million euros. Farrell pushed Fogarty 1 kilometer for every decade of her life. The pair appeared on Ireland’s “The Late Late Show” to discuss their fundraising efforts. Despite being born with the most severe form of EB, Fogarty exceeded the life expectancy for individuals with her type of the condition. Farrell completed the marathon course in just over 4 hours, crossing the finish line with Fogarty just before 1 p.m. local time. The photos from the race show the actor smiling as he pushes his friend, who is seen celebrating with her arms in the air. Overall, their efforts have helped bring attention to EB and raise significant funds for DEBRA.
