Vice President Kamala Harris visited Atlanta to rally supporters to vote early ahead of the upcoming election. The vice president received support from R&B star Usher during the rally and highlighted her economic plan and bipartisan support from Republicans like former Lt. Gov. Geoff Duncan.
Harris also criticized her rival’s comments and former President Donald Trump’s controversial statement regarding a recent press conference about a woman who died while trying to have an abortion. Harris has made reproductive rights a central issue in her campaign, calling the abortion bans that followed a Supreme Court decision a “Trump bans.”
The vice president’s visit to Atlanta came at the end of a week that saw high-profile surrogates from both parties campaigning in Georgia. Former President Bill Clinton, Minnesota First Lady Gwen Walz, and Harris’ husband, Doug Emhoff, all made appearances, while Trump held his own events as well.
Despite the intense campaigning, polls continue to show a close race in Georgia, with Trump leading at 48.6% and Harris at 46.9%. The state’s status as a swing state in the election is evident with the ongoing visits from both parties’ candidates. Harris urged her supporters to keep up the momentum and emphasized the fight for freedom and women’s rights as crucial in this election.
