Comedian Brittany Furlan’s dog, Neena, was saved from being carried off by a coyote due to its extra weight. Furlan shared surveillance video on Instagram showing the coyote snatching the small dog near their Los Angeles home. Furlan managed to rescue Neena by climbing a wall and grabbing her from the coyote’s mouth. The incident took place in Brentwood, where coyotes are common. Furlan emphasized the importance of pet safety in Southern California, urging pet owners not to leave small pets outside unsupervised, especially at night. Coyotes are known to be attracted by trash and pet food. The California Department of Fish and Wildlife recommends taking precautions to prevent coyote attacks. The population of coyotes in California is estimated to be between 250,000 to 750,000, and they have adapted to living alongside humans in many communities. Furlan expressed shock at the encounter, but was grateful that Neena was unharmed, thanks to her quick response. She hopes that her experience serves as a reminder for pet owners to always watch over their animals, even during the day, to avoid potentially dangerous situations with wildlife.
