Vice President Kamala Harris is urging GOP nominee Donald Trump to agree to another presidential debate before voting ends on Nov. 5. Harris believes that voters deserve to hear more conversations on substance, issues, and policies. Despite Harris agreeing to a CNN debate on Oct. 23, Trump has shown no interest in participating in another debate. This comes after their first debate on Sept. 10, where Trump declared he wouldn’t agree to another debate. The Democratic National Committee has even launched mobile billboards calling Trump a “chicken” for avoiding another debate.
The vice presidential candidates are scheduled to debate on Oct. 1 in New York City, hosted by CBS. Harris and Trump are also in talks for detailed interviews on the CBS show “60 minutes” to air back-to-back on Oct. 7. Trump and Harris are both continuing their campaign travels this week, with Harris expected to rally in Pennsylvania, Arizona, and Nevada, while Trump will be making stops in Georgia, North Carolina, Michigan, and Pennsylvania.
The Democratic vice presidential nominee Tim Walz will hold a campaign reception in St. Paul, Minnesota, while the Republican vice presidential candidate J.D. Vance will campaign in Michigan, Georgia, and Pennsylvania. With just over six weeks left until voting wraps up, campaign travel continues to be a central focus for both Republicans and Democrats. The last debate of this cycle will be the vice presidential debate on Oct. 1 unless Trump changes his mind.
