The Secret Service is heightening security around former President Donald Trump following an apparent assassination attempt at a campaign rally and a recent incident at his golf course in Florida. Ryan Wesley Routh, 58, was charged in connection with the attempt on Trump’s life and appeared in court on Monday. Routh dropped off a letter declaring the assassination attempt and was found with weapons and ammunition. The Secret Service has increased protection for Trump, with agents visibly following him closely during recent public appearances. Trump plans to return to the location of the previous attempt on his life in Butler, Pennsylvania, one month before Election Day. Additionally, the House unanimously voted to boost protection for all presidential candidates, giving them the same level of protection as presidents. The new security measures come after a series of threats and attempts on Trump’s life, prompting the Secret Service to take a heightened posture in their protection of the former president.
