Democrats are planning to launch a new messaging campaign to coax Donald Trump back onto the debate stage with Vice President Kamala Harris by labeling him a “chicken” for refusing to debate again. The campaign includes static and mobile billboards featuring an image of Trump in a chicken suit with the words “There’s no debate: Donald Trump’s a chicken.” The DNC originally planned to send staffers in chicken suits to Trump rallies but decided against it. Trump and Harris had one debate this cycle, where they discussed immigration, inflation, and abortion. Harris has accepted an invitation to participate in a CNN debate on October 23, but Trump has reiterated his decision not to debate again, citing that it is too late as voting has already started in some states. The DNC highlighted that Biden and Trump debated on October 22 in the 2020 cycle, which was also after voting had begun. Trump has expressed interest in a Fox News debate but has not agreed to any further debates. The Trump campaign has not responded to the DNC’s messaging campaign.
