A 37-year-old Tennessee man, Kyl Alton Hall, has been charged with making alleged threats against President Joe Biden, Vice President Kamala Harris, and former President Barack Obama on social media. The Department of Justice indicted Hall on two counts of threatening a sitting president or vice president and one count of a threat to a former president, each carrying a penalty of up to five years in prison. The threats were made on the social media platform X, where Hall allegedly threatened to kill, assassinate, shoot, and crash the plane of Biden, as well as assassinate Harris and Obama. The U.S. Secret Service investigated the case, which will be prosecuted by the national security and civil rights unit in the local U.S. attorney’s office. This incident occurred during the same week that Biden, Harris, and Obama were in Chicago for the Democratic National Convention, where Harris accepted her party’s presidential nomination. A spokesperson for the Secret Service did not immediately respond to a request for comment on the matter.
