Minnesota Governor Tim Walz became the Democratic nominee for vice president at the Democratic National Convention. Walz positioned Democrats as the party of common sense, calling for limits on gun rights to keep children safe. He urged delegates to work tirelessly until Election Day to support Harris and himself.
Oprah Winfrey made a surprise appearance at the convention, endorsing Harris and Walz as candidates who can bring decency and respect to politics. She urged voters to base their decision on the candidates’ character and criticized the Republican loyalty to Trump. Winfrey emphasized an inclusive vision of politics, rejecting Vance’s derogatory remarks about Democratic voters. The convention ended with cheers from the crowd, energized by Walz’s acceptance and Winfrey’s endorsement.
