Bill Clinton encourages Democrats to support Kamala Harris, the “president of joy,” in Georgia Recorder address

Former President Bill Clinton delivered a powerful speech at the Democratic National Convention in Chicago, praising Democratic presidential nominee Kamala Harris for her vision, experience, and ability to move the country forward. Highlighting Harris’ middle-class roots and work at McDonald’s, Clinton expressed his confidence in her leadership skills.

Clinton also paid tribute to President Joe Biden, commending him for his work on the economy, handling the coronavirus crisis, and his decision to voluntarily give up political power by suspending his reelection bid. He drew a contrast between Biden’s selflessness and Trump’s selfishness, stating that Biden cares about Americans while Trump only cares about himself.

As the party rallies around Harris and her running mate, Minnesota Gov. Tim Walz, Clinton warned Democrats not to underestimate their adversaries and advised them to engage with voters in rural areas while treating them with respect. Emphasizing the importance of not getting overconfident before Election Day, Clinton reminded the audience of past elections where slip-ups occurred due to distractions or complacency.

In his closing remarks, Clinton, who turned 78 this week, took a swipe at Trump, mentioning that he is still younger than the former president. Overall, Clinton’s speech focused on rallying support for Harris and Biden while cautioning against underestimating their opponents and staying focused on the upcoming election.
