Taylor Swift was devastated to have to cancel her Vienna shows earlier this month after Austrian officials said a terror plot targeting her concert was foiled. The mega pop star was scheduled to perform at Ernst Happel Stadium in front of an estimated 170,000 fans as part of her international “Eras Tour”, but the shows were called off due to safety concerns. The main suspect in the terror plot was a 19-year-old Austrian national with North Macedonian roots who had plans to kill himself and others with knives and explosive devices. Another suspect, a 17-year-old Austrian citizen with Turkish and Croatian roots, was also arrested near the stadium. The investigation was triggered by an alert from the U.S. intelligence community. Swift, who had previously expressed fears of a terror attack at one of her stadium shows, thanked authorities for uncovering the plot and ensuring the safety of her fans. Despite the cancellation of her Vienna shows, the singer successfully completed her European tour and expressed gratitude to her fans for their support and unity during the difficult situation. In a post on Instagram, Swift highlighted the importance of safety and thanked the dedicated team and authorities who worked to keep her and her fans safe during the tour. She also expressed her appreciation for the joy and exuberance of her fans at her Wembley shows, where she performed to record-breaking crowds.
