Illinois Governor JB Pritzker dismissed comparisons between the upcoming Democratic National Convention and the 1968 DNC, citing a different political climate and the presence of technology and policing improvements. He expressed confidence in the planned protests being peaceful and the safety of both protesters and convention attendees.
Pritzker defended the decision to push Joe Biden out of the race in favor of Kamala Harris, highlighting Biden’s long history of fighting for working families and the need for a candidate who can energize voters. He emphasized the importance of preventing Donald Trump from winning another term and expressed optimism that the convention would be a celebration of Biden’s accomplishments and the unity brought by Harris and Tim Walz.
Pritzker expected the convention to be like a “rock concert” with cheers and excitement as the Democratic Party comes together to support their chosen candidates. He also emphasized the need for voters to be enthusiastic about their choice in order to defeat Trump in the upcoming election.
