Qatar’s State Security Agency chief, Abdullah bin Mohammed al-Khulaifi, has been awarded the prestigious George Tenet medal by the CIA for his significant role in advancing intelligence cooperation between Qatar and the United States. CIA Director Bill Burns presented the award to al-Khulaifi in recognition of his efforts in maintaining national and regional security in the Gulf region. This accolade also acknowledges al-Khulaifi’s exceptional support to the US agency in safeguarding the interests and security of both countries. The Qatari agency has been actively collaborating with the US in counterterrorism efforts to prevent and thwart threats and attacks in the Middle East. This award highlights the longstanding partnership between Qatar and the US, with the US Air Force base at Al-Udeid being hosted in Qatar. Al-Khulaifi’s commendable contributions to intelligence work have been recognized with this prestigious medal, although official statements from both agencies are yet to be released. The award is a testament to the deep-rooted relationship between the two countries and signifies the importance of their cooperation in enhancing security and combating global threats.
