Los Angeles prosecutors have charged five people in connection to the accidental overdose death of “Friends” actor Matthew Perry, including his personal assistant and a doctor who provided the drug. Perry was addicted to ketamine and was injecting the drug multiple times a day, leading to his death where he was found face down in a pool with high levels of ketamine in his body. The assistant injected Perry three times in the hours leading to his death, with the last dose causing him to be found face down in a jacuzzi. Perry’s assistant and another supplier were paid large sums of money for ketamine in the weeks leading to his death. Various individuals, including a doctor and Perry’s assistant, have been charged or pleaded guilty in connection to his death. Perry had struggled with addiction in the past and was open about his struggles before his death. He had received awards for his work in recovery and had converted his home into a sober-living space. Perry’s death highlights the dangers of substance abuse and the devastating consequences it can have.
