Ernesto is expected to bring heavy rainfall to these areas, with up to 10 inches possible in some areas of Puerto Rico, as well as storm surges of up to 3 feet above ground level on the east coast of Puerto Rico and the Virgin Islands. Puerto Rico has activated the National Guard and canceled classes in public schools in preparation for the storm.
