The 2024 Paris Summer Olympic Games came to a close with a celebratory closing ceremony featuring performances from iconic French artists. Indie rock band Phoenix took the stage to perform hits like “Lisztomania,” “If I Ever Feel Better,” and “1901,” as well as brought out special guests Ezra Koenig and VannDa. French electronic artist Kavinsky also performed his song “Nightcall” with Angèle, while Air played “Playground Love.” Snoop Dogg, a key figure in the Games, will participate in the host city handover from Paris to Los Angeles, which will host the Olympics in 2028. Paris Mayor Anne Hidalgo will pass the Olympic flag to Los Angeles Mayor Karen Bass to symbolize the transition. American R&B artist H.E.R. is expected to perform the U.S. national anthem, while other Los Angeles-based artists like Billie Eilish and the Red Hot Chili Peppers are also set to be part of the ceremony. The event honored French music and culture and marked the end of a successful Olympic Games in Paris.
